Meet our Animals - Boyds Forest Dragon

Hypsilurus boydii - Boyd's Forest Dragons are a rain forest species that live in the wet tropics of Queensland and like to hang vertically onto tree's 1-2mtrs off the ground to survey their surroundings for prey and predators. They don't do well in hot conditions over 30c and like shaded humid environments which make these critters a bit of a challenge to keep as pets in some areas of Australia. These impressive dragons eat primarily insects and earthworms in the wild. Breeding is as with most dragon in spring with laying towards the end of spring into summer. They can produce multiple clutches of eggs from a single mating.
